Matured from 60% Touriga Nacionale and 40% Shiraz grapes and matured for 12 months in oak. Opaque black dark red colour with dark red hue. The nose is quite closed upon opening with faint aromas of liquorice, black cherries, dried raisins, dried fig and spice slowly emerging and gradually building in intensity. The palate is filled with rich raisin and liquorice flavours over a fine brandy spirit background with some marzipan and spice also present. Dryish finish with a solid tannin structure. Long aftertaste of raisins, liquorice, brandy spirit and spice.
This wine will benefit from decanting prior to serving after a splendid dinner, and served with stilton and freshly cracked walnuts, home made fruit cake or delicious chocolates.
